2007
ABC Excellence in Construction Award
- Phillips Exeter Academy "Academy Center"
The
silver certified LEED project transformed an outdated 46,000 square
foot science building into a contemporary student center that serves
as more than just the social center of the school.
The project combined several situational challenges – any
one of which would have been taxing in a normal construction situation;
ongoing safety concerns, limited site access, cramped utility spaces,
high end lighting and interior finishes and water seepage due to
the fact that the building is sited below sea level.
The
project was completed on time and on budget, and easily passed the
level of LEED certification that the school had set as a goal at
the outset.
